Philosophy
At the heart of Lindsey’s educational philosophy is the understanding that each student is a unique individual with multiple facets that make them, “them”. To know students as people and to understand what they believe, or have been told, sets them apart is integral in working through challenges or enhancing strengths. Working with Lindsey as a mentor/coach regularly provides students with a safe, supportive person – a sounding board, as well as a voice of reason. Once a relationship of trust has been established, Lindsey works with each student to meet their goals using a holistic approach that integrates maintaining a healthy relationship with school, peers, self, and community.
Lindsey examines what it is that drives each student in order to inspire individuals to find their intrinsic motivation. Ultimately, students become independent practitioners of this mindset and build a sense of pride and confidence in their work and inner-selves.
As a neurodivergent individual, Lindsey specializes in assisting students with ADHD, Anxiety, mild learning differences, trauma histories, addiction, and/or general health struggles overcome additional obstacles to reach their goals and explore their strengths through a unique lens of personal recovery experience.
Academic Coaching & Mentoring
1:1 Executive Functioning & Academic Mentoring
For students who need guidance beyond the classroom. These sessions help teens stay organized, break down long-term projects, manage their time, and keep track of the big picture of their academics. Perfect for students who aren’t motivated by grades but still want to succeed, or those who just need a consistent adult mentor to keep them on track.
Holistic Mentoring for Growing Minds
Some students don’t just need a tutor—they need someone to help them build confidence, self-advocacy, and emotional resilience. These sessions combine academic guidance with social-emotional support so students can feel more capable and independent, both inside and outside of school.
English & Writing Support
For students who struggle with—or simply dislike—reading and writing, I make English approachable and manageable. Sessions can focus on reading comprehension, research and thesis writing, academic essays, or creative writing, depending on the student’s needs.
Educational Transition Support
Starting at a new school, adjusting to a heavier academic load, or preparing for the shift to college can be stressful. I help students develop the skills, routines, and emotional tools to approach these transitions with confidence and independence.
All sessions are personalized to meet the student’s individual needs. Students are supported in keeping up with all their coursework while exploring new strategies and practicing self-reflection to discover what works best for them as learners and ultimately become independent practitioners of this mindset.
